Innogy is one of Europe’s five leading electricity and gas companies that brings energy to 23 million people every day. However, the traditional business model of an energy utility is facing challenges as the whole European energy sector is undergoing fundamental transformation.
The changes are so radical that we say the world is living an energy revolution: The energy sector is witnessing a transition from fossil fuels to renewables, from centralized energy production in large facilities towards decentralized systems, households and enterprises are increasingly evolving from consumers to ‘prosumers’, who can produce their own electricity. More and more customers are seeking to make efficient use of energy and want to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the digital revolution.
These unquestionably revolutionary changes have already been set in motion and will continue to pick up speed in the coming decades. At innogy, we believe this offers us entrepreneurial opportunities that we intend to seize. Our strategy is to shape the future energy system as innovation leader.
Therefore, we pay much attention to innovation, both of user experience as well as product portfolio as such. We have multinational platforms where Innogy experts work together with external partners on breakthrough products and services related to energy as well as beyond. Innogy has intensive interaction with start-up enterprises in hubs such as Silicon Valley, Tel Aviv and Berlin.
