The Industry-leading companies Brose, E.ON, PRE, RWE, SAP and ŠKODA AUTO will open their doors for startups, freelancers and students in the second half of June. In so called startup sessions, participants and the innovation managers of these companies will discuss issues that the companies need to find solutions for. The events are part of the innovation contest “Connect Visions to Solutions” that is organized by the Czech-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Everyone who has tried to meet the right people in big companies for presenting his startup, knows how difficult that can be. These startup sessions give young entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet the decision makers in our partner companies,” says Lenka Šolcová, organizer of the contest “Connect Visions to Solutions”. “We are trying to make the events as much informal and businesslike as possible so that concrete business cooperation can be started”.

“Connect Visions to Solutions” is a contest about startups and innovators finding solutions for tasks of the future-oriented industry leading companies Brose, E.ON, PRE, RWE, SAP and SKODA AUTO. Every partner of the competition has announced a task, all together they cover a wide range of topics: Communication app for staff members in the production area, CSR, energy services & devices for households, smart factory, solution in IoT and big data or modern mobility.

These tasks will be explained and discussed in close detail during the startup sessions. Next week there will be the first two meetings. Report from "CONNECT Visions to Solutions" Startup Award Kick-off meeting

Published 21st April 2016

On the morning of 20th of April more than 100 guests showed up for the official kick-off of the startup contest “Connect Visions to Solutions“. The audience was a mix of innovation managers and high-level representatives of the contest partners, startuppers and innovation freelancers.

Event host Christian Rühmkorf, Head of Communication and Public Affairs of the Czech-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, introduced Axel Limberg, President of the Chamber, and Bernard Bauer, its Executive Board Member to the audience. They pointed out the importance of cooperation in innovation and that it has become a priority for the Chamber to bring together big industrial companies with dynamic startups in order to create sustainable win-win business.

Furthermore serial entrepreneur and investor (i.e. expensa, Bonnet founder) Jan Urban came to share his knowledge about the Czech startup environment and the challenges of building a successful startup. Another highlight of the event was a speech given by Oliver Dlouhý, CEO of Skypicker. Skypicker is an innovative air tickets search engine and reservation system and probably the most rapidly growing Czech startup recently. From Dlouhý´s point of view cooperation between corporations and startups are beneficial for both sides. Startups have nothing to loose and they can always start their business somehow. Big industry leading companies on the other hand strongly need to adapt to heavy changes in the market in times of digital revolution.

For interested startups Lenka Šolcová, the Chamber‘s Manager for Innovative Technologies and the contest‘s main contact person introduced the rules and conditions of the Startup Award “Connect Visions to Solutions“.

Apart from those exciting presentations it was of course time for fulfilling the main purpose of the event: revealing the contest tasks! Innovation managers of ŠKODA AUTO, RWE, SAP, E.ON, Brose and PRE shared their strategic visions and explained what kind of solutions they are looking for. Take a look at their presentations and make sure to check out their contest tasks in various fields:

  1. Communication app for staff members in production area
  2. Engage in social responsibility
  3. Energy services & devices for households
  4. Smart Factory
  5. Cloud solution in IoT or Big Data
  6. Modern mobility

Besides the official part with presentations and speeches there was also lots of time for networking, which was accompanied by delicious food from the Patissier Marcus Breier.
